SoundBridge Widgets: MIDI Mapping

It is a necessary functionality which helps you take control of the software. This widget with user-friendly approach can be used to assign commands to just about any parameter within the SoundBridge: DAW. In the next tutorial, we will guide you through its use and help you to understand it better.  

MIDI Mapping Explained

  The “MIDI Mapping” window can be accessed by clicking on the “Map” tab under the editing window. It is marked in red in the picture below. Specifically, it is used for mapping MIDI controllers to track and transport parameters in SoundBridge: DAW.     You can add a new mapping lane by clicking on the + button next to the “Add New Mapping”. For example, check out the picture below.     In the first dialogue menu, you can select the track containing the parameter you wish to map. Moreover, if you want to map the native SoundBridge parameter simply select “SoundBridge” from the menu.     The second dialogue lets you select which parameter of the track or transport you wish to map. It will populate with plugin parameters you read in the rack of the selected track.    

Learn, Device, Minimum/Maximum and Invert

  The “Learn” button lets you assign a continuous control, or in short, CC from an external MIDI device to the selected parameter. Furthermore, the CC field will display the MIDI controller number assigned to the parameter. The “Device” field will display and identify the mapped MIDI device, and “minimum/maximum” field will allow for setting up the minimum and maximum boundaries for the mapped parameter. Subsequently, this can be quite useful. Limiting the range of the parameter will let you use your MIDI controller with more precision. Additionally, the “Invert” button exchanges the minimum and maximum values set for the controller with each other. Consequently, the minimum becomes maximum and vice versa. Finally, you can at any time delete any of these MIDI mappings by just clicking the lane you want to remove and pressing delete on your keyboard.      [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column] [/et_pb_row] [/et_pb_section]
